Its a good quality lathe but nothing like an old Southbend . I can tell you Leblond makes good lathes I have worked with them in the past. But obviously the condition of a used lathe can vary greatly. Leblond made good machines.

The LeBlond is a lot more robust in construction and will swing a lot bigger part. The South Bends are wonderful lathes, but they don’t really compare in rigidity. The SB will chatter quicker if you try to use a large form cutting tool to cut a radius or other shape.
