Troubled Queensland resort Dunk Island has been purchased by Sydney music entrepreneur Mark Spillane in a deal worth $20 million. Dunk Island, one of only three freehold islands on the Great Barrier Reef, is 4km east of Mission Beach in Far North Queensland.
Can you live on Dunk Island?
Just four kilometres off the coast of Mission Beach, this hidden gem offers a unique landscape of tropical rainforest, rocky shores, hilly terrain and secluded beaches. Currently, the only way to stay on Dunk Island is by camping, and with just eight camping sites, you’ll practically have the whole island to yourself.

The cafe serves ice cold drinks, tea and coffee, meals including fresh local seafood all served in the awesome laid back atmosphere of the campground.
