What should be in an AQA EPQ presentation?

There are six central pieces of content that you should include in your presentation, which include the following:

  1. What your EPQ topic was about. This one should be obvious.
  2. The reasons behind your topic.
  3. Your aims and objectives.
  4. Research covered.
  5. What lessons you’ve learned.
  6. How it will impact your future.

Do you have to give a presentation for EPQ?

At the end of an Extended Project Qualification, all candidates need to present their work. This is part of the assessment and – yes – it is absolutely compulsory. The presentation needs to last for ten minutes, followed by five to ten minutes of questions (which we’ll talk about in more detail below).

Can you get a * in EPQ?

With an EPQ you are able to achieve an A* grade, unlike with an AS level, so it can be worth more tariff points.

What makes a successful EPQ?

Getting an A* on your EPQ begins with picking a creative, individual and exciting question that is both specific and sufficiently broad to provide a detailed response. Above all, the most successful EPQs are those that genuinely interest the participant.

How much is the EPQ presentation worth?

The presentation is part of the EPQ and counts towards the “Review” section of the project which is worth 20% of the overall grade.

Is EPQ a waste of time?

The EPQ is a self-motivated project that carries the same Ucas points as an AS level, and is increasingly popular with students – over 30,000 did it in 2013. Josh Heath, who has also done an EPQ, says: “For the most part it was a waste of time.”

Is EPQ good for Oxbridge?

Many Russel Group universities offer dual EPQ offers across a range of courses, from finance to psychology. However, it seems that this does not apply to Oxbridge colleges if you are planning to apply to them. Even so, EPQ is still highly valued by them and could potentially be asked about during interviews!

How hard is it to get an A in EPQ?

As of June 2017, 97.7% of people taking EPQs achieve an E grade or better. This sounds good, but there are a few hidden factors that you might not be aware of. For one, only 17.7 % of students achieved an A* for their EPQ. That means only 17.7% of students earned the maximum of 28 UCAS points for all their hard work.

What makes a good EPQ question?

There also needs to be scope for wide research which is why many EPQ questions begin with ‘to what extent’. Using an opener such as ‘what’ limits your research and your essay whereas ‘to what extent’ allows for both sides of the argument to be explored. Ultimately, a good question should be interesting and focussed.

Does Oxbridge care about EPQ?

Where applicants have undertaken the EPQ, this will not be a condition of any offer but the University recognises that the EPQ will provide an applicant with the opportunity to develop research and academic skills relevant for study at Oxford.

How hard is an EPQ?

EPQs are not easy, unless you’ve got extensive experience in writing and project management. There’s an intense amount of work, and so you should only consider taking on an EPQ if your college work will fit alongside it. An EPQ can be worth anywhere up to 28 UCAS points, so half an A-Level.
